Dec. 12, 1952 - Russians Hand Over Spandau Prison To Americans: The Americans took over the guard at Spandau Prison, Berlin, from the Russians, who will not take over again for four months. The prison houses Nazi war criminals who are serving long sentences. During the Changing the Guard ceremony, the Russian and American Guard presented arms to each other and the commanders shook hands.
