Ruth Railton, founder of National Youth Orchestra

Jan. 01, 1954 - HISTORIC GEMS LOST IN A TAXI. GEMS WORN BY MARIE ANTOINETTE. MISS RUTH RAILTON was on her way by taxi last night from Baker Street to her home in Maida Vale. With her she had a diamond-and-pearl necklace once worn by MARIE ANTOINETTE. She told Scotland Yard later that she forgot about the necklace - and only remembered it after leaving the taxi. Miss Railton, founder of the National Youth Orchestra, was going to wear the necklace at a Festival Hall Concert. Police last night were still trying to locate the taxi.
