Sale of famous Mountbatten necklace at Sotheby's
Jun. 16, 1966 - 16-6-66 Lady Pamela Hicks sells the famous Mountbatten emerald necklace for 42, 000 Lady Pamela Hicks, wife of interior decorator David Hicks, today sold the famous Mountbatten emerald necklace which was left to her by her mother, Lady Mountbatten. It went up for auction at Sotheby's in London, and was bought by Mr. M.A. Seymour for 42, 000. The necklace, which was made in Paris, consists of nine magnificent emeralds arranged as drops from a diamond collar. The three centre emeralds alone weigh nearly 50 carats.
