The Boyfriend is a musical comedy set in the roaring period of the 1920s, when Sandy Wilson was a baby in his pram, but in spite of that he has managed to capture the spirit of those years and so have the young people in the show, some of whom weren't even born in 1920. Wilson has written many sketches but this is his first full length play. He studied at Oxford and his family intended he should be a diplomat, but he installed himself in a tiny basement flat in Swiss Cottage with a piano and a beautiful Persian cat and went on writing. He still lives in in the flat and still does his own chores, but the money is now coming in and he says he's going to have a few more luxuries around the place
