Scene from A Night to Remember

A man is forcibly dragged back aboard the Titanic after he had got aboard the last lifeboat without authority. Kenneth More grabs him by the scruff of his neck and pushes him back into the crowd of waiting unlucky passengers. Terror strikes into the hearts of over 1, 500 men, women and children when they know they are going to die and, in one mad, panic-striken moment they fight to find a place on one of the last overcrowded lifeboats to leave a doomed passenger liner. the time! 2;00am, April 15, 1912. In another 20 minutes 1, 503 souls were to go down with the mighty Titanic in mid- Atlantic. All the horror of that moment of 46 year ago is caught in this sone during the filming of the Titanic story, A night to remember, now being made at Pinewood studios. This was one of the very few occasions when an officer had to use a gun on board a British ship to bring a panic-skicken mob to order. The officer was the Titanic's Second officer C. H. Lightoller, played by Kenneth More in the film. Although the gun was fired only into the air it stemmed the panic- but who can say what man will not panic when faced with certain death - or the chance for life in a tiny lifeboat?
