Scene from play, The Diary of Anne Frank, Munich, Germany
Dec. 09 The Diary of Anne Frank. The Jewish girl Anne Frank aged 14 wrote a diary when she was hidden with her parents and other Jewish subjects in a garret of a house in Amsterdam to escape the German secret police, the so-called Gestapo. At last the Gestapo found the Jews and took them to a Nazi concentration camp where they died. The diary of the little Jewish girl then disappeared but was found later on. It was published and became a best seller throughout the world. Then the Diary of Anne Frank was adapted into a stage play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. The play's first night was at a Broadway theater some time ago. Now it is played on many German stages too. Now the Diary of Anne Frank is played at the Munich Kammerspiele
