Schoolboys in the stocks, raising money for charity
Dec. 12, 1967 - It's all in good cause.: two 14-year-old schoolboys, Peter Farman and Bernard Clarke, yesterday volunteered to be placed in the stocks at Queen Eleanor Secondary School, Waltham Cross Herts. their school friends paid 1d. each for rotting tomatoes cadged from a greengrocer and hurled them at the captives. It was, of course, all in a good cause. the school's Fourth Form are trying to raise 20 for an old people's gardens, getting their shopping and coal, and even decorating their homes. yesterday they raised 2 before Peter and Bernard were led to the school's showers.
