1976 - Screaming Lord Sutch Given The Axe From Motor Racing: Controversial Pop Star Screaming Lord Sutch has been given the axe from motor racing due to an incident that happened at Brands hatch on the 4th April. Sutch who was competing in a Super Stan race with Alvin Stardust and Rick Wkemen stopped on the grid causing a certain amount of panic to race track officials. The race was began professional drivers and the Stars were to take over after two laps, Lord Sutch says my driver was so far behind that when I took over no other car was in sight and after two laps I had no Idea where the other racers were, or even if the race was still going so I stopped on the grid to find out what was going on'. Sutch was invited by the organisers to add colour and excitement to the race and was to race on May 9th but this has to be off. Lord Sutch has been bitten by the racing bug hard and was contemplating purchasing a racing car for 2, 500 pounds from a friend which he was hoping to race professionally.
