Sculpture by Barnett Newman, Broken Obelisk, Washington

Oct. 10, 1967 - Sculpture Outside Art Gallery: This awesome piece of sculpture, entitled Broken Obelisk, by sculptor, Barnett Newman, has been placed on display outside the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington. This is the first time an American museum has commissioned a work to fit a space outside of the building. 25 ft. high, the sculpture is in iron, and in orange colour, which, one would assume after weathering would change to a rust colour
