Sculpture at Leprosy Relief Association exhibition, London
Aug. 08, 1954 - The British Empire Leprosy Relief Association at Horse Guards Parade: The British Empire Leprosy Relief Association, founded in 1924, with the aim of spreading the knowledge that modern science should treat and finally prevent the spread of Leprosy opened their exhibition this morning at the Horse Guards Parade. Photo shows Mother pleading for her Leprous child carved out of an elm tree, which was taken from Hyde Park five years ago. A Nigerian Leper who was cured of leprosy came to England to study sculpture carved this model which was on show at the exhibition today
