Mar. 03, 1960 - 10 FOOT HIGH SCULPTURE IN CONCRETE AND METAL MESH FOR NEW COVENTRY ART GALLERY: The Coventry Sculpture, Peter Peri's 10-ft high sculpture in metal and specially treated concrete, forms the centrepiece of the permanent art collection at the new Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry, to be opened on March 9th. This composition consists of a series of symbolic human figures placed against a background of expanded metal mesh with other figures posed on brackets attached to a central column. The work was commissioned by the libraries, Art Gallery and Museums Committee to illustrate the theme of Coventry and its reconstruction.
