Two sculptures on display at exhibition in Kassel
Jul. 07, 1964 - Phantasy of steel is the name given to this sculpture (L) by the workmen of a forgery in Kassel, Germany. The giant steel block has lost its form under a hammer in the factory. So the workmen decided to polish it and exhibit it in the famous documenta III at Kassel, where famous artists from all over the world show their sculptures and paintings. But the documenta directors did not accept their sculpture as a work of art and had it removed from the exhibition. In the background (R) is the sculpture The watchers by Lynn Chadwick
