Jun. 06, 1966 - Sheila Scott flies back to London after breaking a world Air record: Miss Sheila Scott flew into London Airport yesterday, the first Briton to fly alone around the world and break the world air speed record for women. She had just ended a 33 day flight in her tiny Piper Comancho single engined plane. In her 28, 856-mile flight, the 38 year old Miss Scott averaged 36 m.p.h. including stops on hand. The previous record, held by 40 year old American housewife, Jerry Mock, was 32.7 m.p, h, for much shorter flight.
