Shinzan Yamada working on giant statue of Buddha, Japan
Aug. 08, 1968 - Buddha Builder. A 36-foot statue of Buddha is the work of sculptor-philosopher Shinzan Yamada, of Futenma, Japan, who is 89 years of age. He commenced his project in 1957 when he was 78. The magnificent statue shows Buddha seated in a gigantic lotus blossom flower, and many visitors journey to Futenma specially to see the huge Buddha.
