Ship-shaped Museum completed in Tokyo: The Maritime Science Museum, built on the lines of the Queen Elizabeth II, is now completed for its official opening next July on reclaimed land in the Koto Ward of Tokyo. The ship like building 210 meters high, as well as an after funnel, was built at a cost of 4 million for the Japan Maritime Science Promotion Foundation, and will exhibit models of every known type of ship throught the history of the sea, including hovercraft, electro-magnet propelled ships, as well as ultra-modern nuclear powered ships. Cost 5 million. Official Opening July 20, 1974. Site is 5000 square meters reclaimed land at ariarke in Koto Ward on Tokyo Bay. Built of ferroconcrete with six decks, has 70 meter high observation tower on top deck for 300 persons, two elevators. Ship models, engines photos, sailors uniforms, panels and history shipping displayed other six decks, also lecture hall, classrooms restaurants library movie for science education. Outside ship museum are model ship experimental pools, lighthouse, parking for 400 buses, and 250 automobiles, museum opens daily 10 AM to 5PM except Tuesdays. President and organizer is Ryochi Sasagawa who thought up the idea
