Signing the new Sudan pact between Britain and Egypt

Feb. 02, 1953 - Signing Of The New Britain-Egypt Pact in Cairo: An agreement between Britain and Egypt granting self-government to the Sudan and providing for self-determination of its future within three years, was signed in Cairo recently. Preparation for elections to form a Sudanese Parliament will be be set in hand at once and will take place at the end of March of beginning of April and a Sudanese Parliament and government should be in existence by the end of April.
