Oct. 10, 1979 - Henry Cotton Receives The 1979 Walter Hagen Award: At Simpson, Piccadilly today the world famous Golfer, Henry Cotton was presented with the 1979 Walter Hagen Award, by the Minister for Sport, Hector Monro. Henry Cotton has long been recognized as one of the game's most knowledgeable teachers and players. A three time winner of the British Open-in 1934, 1937 and 1948-The trophy is presented annually to an individual who has contributed to better golfing ties and friendship between Britain and America.
