Oct. 30, 1970 - October 30th 1970 Envoy hits out a George Brown Sir Evelyn Shuckburgh, former British Ambassador to Italy, sent a letter to the Times in which he hit out at Mr. George Brown the former Foreign Secretary in the Labour Government. He accused him of being unhelpful, unfair, failing to lean loyalty and of making a travesty of FO Staff by calling them Bowler-hatted chaps who leave their desks for home or clubs. This afternoon Sir Evelyn denied that there was anything personal in his scathing attack on his former chief.
