Feb. 02, 1976 - Sir Hugh Casson The New President Of The Royal Academy: Sir Hugh Casson, 65, the architect and former professor of environmental design at the Royal College of Art, was elected the 20th president of the Royal Academy by his fellow academicians yesterday. Sir Hugh who succeeds the late Sir Thomas Monnington, was director of Architecture for the Festival of Britain and is a member of the Arts Council and a trustee of the British Museum.
