Aug. 08, 1953 - New Commissioner of Metropolitan Police: Sir John Nott-Bower, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police has been appointed Commissioner in succession to Sir Harold Scott. The Queen has approved the recommendation of the Home Secretary. Sir John will take up the appointment on August 13. Photo shows Sir John Nott-Bower photographed at Scotland Yard this evening
