Sir Laurence Olivier, Joan Plowright, celebrating peerage
Jun. 13, 1970 - Sir Laurence Olivier the first actor peer; Sir Laurence Olivier has become the first theatre knight to become a life peer. Sir Laurence who was knighted in 1947, will have a singing and dancing part in Guys and Dolls at the Old Vic in December -an announcement was made today in the Queen's honours list for her birthday. Sir Laurence is at the moment appearing at the Cambridge Theatre with his wife, actress Joan Plowright.
