Mar. 03, 1959 - Twenty six Africans killed in Nyasaland riots. Sir Roy Welensky the Federation Prime Minister: Twenty six Africans were killed when police opened fire when rioting broke out in Nyasaland - after the Governor Sir Robert Armitage had declared a State of Emergency. Twenty of them were killed at Nkata Bay when a mob tried to release prisoners arrested earlier. Sir Roy Welensky the Federal Prime Minister ordered the deportation of Mr. John Stonehouse the British Labour MP from the Rhodesian Federation following a speech which he made on Human Rights.
