South Vietnam ambassador, Peter Bessell, Jeremy Thorpe

Feb. 02, 1969 - Liberals Quiz South Vietnam MPs: The leader of the Liberal Party Jeremy Thorpe and a number of the fellow Liberals spent their lunch hour today at the House of Commons with members of the South Vietnamese government which they had criticised so often. The lunch had been set up as the result of discussion some months ago between the South Vietnamese Ambassador and Peter Bessell, the Liberal who sits for Bodmin. The Ambassador commented on criticisms which had been levelled at his government by Liberals. Mr. Bessell said that the criticisms mentioned were chiefly concerned with the actual form of the South Vietnamese government. Photo Shows Mr Le-Ngoc-Chan, the South Vietnamese Ambassador in London, speaking at the luncheon. In center is Mr. Peter Bessell, MP for Bodmin (Chairman of the meeting) and on right, Mr. Jeremy Thorpe Leader of the Liberal Party
