Sep. 12, 1955 - 12-9-55 Soviet Ambassador switches on the Blackpool Illuminations Mr. Jacob Malik the Soviet Ambassador to London performed the ceremony of switching on the Blackpool Illuminations of 350, 000 coloured lights during the weekend after which he was presented with a special stick of Blackpool rock with the name J.B.
