Aug. 08, 1972 - POLICE CLASH WITH JEWISH DEMONSTRATORS AS THE SOVIET AMBASSADOR UNVEILS LENIN PLAQUE AT NEW HOTEL. There was a scuffle between the police and Jewish demonstrators this morning while MIKHAIL SMIRNOVSKY, the Soviet Ambassador, was unveiling a LENIN plaque at the new Royal Scot Hotel, near Kings Cross Station. The plaque commemorates the fact that LENIN took lodgings at a house on the spot 67 years ago when he came to London for the Third Congress of the Russian Democratic Labour Party in May 1905.
