Apr. 17 Space Launch Rehearsal: Watching a countdown demonstration test at a monitoring station at Cape Kennedy, Florida, Rocco A. Petrone, center, is surrounded by aides. He was director of launch operations when this picture was taken in May 1969 during rehearsals for the Apollo-10 around-the-moon flight. Later that year he was promoted to the position of Apollo program director so that he has overall responsibility for the forthcoming Apollo-14 manned moon landing mission
