Spectators at early morning rehearsal for Coronation, London

May 05, 1953 - Rehearsal for the Coronation procession: A rehearsal for the Coronation procession was held this morning. About 300 troops were used to represent the units taking part. They left Buckingham Palace at 5am arriving at Westminster Abbey a little more than half an hour later. The troops wore battledress and no bands were used. The State Coach and a few troops to represent the immediate entourage covered the rest of the route. The object of the rehearsal was to practise the marshalling of the procession.
