Speech in memory of communist martyrs, East Berlin
Jan. 21, 1954 - East Berliners Demonstrate For Murdered Jewish German Communists. President Pieck Speaks: At the same time as the Jews were being persecuted by the Soviets in all the Communist states - the GDR Government - the East German Association ordered a demonstration by East Berliners in Memory of two well known German Communists murdered 34 years ago - Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxenburg. A greet parade was held through the streets of East Berlin at which pictures of the Martyrs were carried. East German President Pieck made a speech at which he gave the usual Soviet denunciations of the West. Photo shows Wilhelm Pieck the President makes his anti-West speech during the parade.
