Oct. 10, 1973 - Greek premier pledges early elections as the new government is sworn in: Speaking to the Greek nation on radio and television shortly after the swearing-in of his civilian cabinet, Spyros Markezinis, the new Greek prime minister, yesterday promised fair parliamentary elections as soon as possible. The 38 ministers and under-secretaries in the new cabinet will replace the army-backed government which has ruled the country since the army coup in April 1967.
