Oct. 10, 1958 - St. Clement Danes church of the R.A.F. - Ready for Re-dedication ceremony: The newly reconstructed Church of St. Clement Danes, in the Strand - the Church of the Royal Air Force - is now almost ready for the re-dedication ceremony-which is being held on Oct. 19th.in the presence of H.M. The Queen. The restoration cost about £250, 000. The original Church a Wren masterpiece, built in 1681 - was ruined by enemy action on the night of May 10th. 1941. Photo shows Mr. W.A.S. Lloyd, MBE F.R.I.B.A. the architect - illustrates the operation of one of the unique pews which he has devised at the newly reconstructed church Each pew - at its outside extremity is fitted with telescopic extensions which pull out to provide additional seating
