St Clement Danes Church, London, rededication

Mar. 22 St Clement Danes Church of the Royal Air Force ready for rededication ceremony. The newly restored Church of St Clement Danes, in the Strand - the Church of the Royal Air Force - is now almost ready for the rededication service to be held in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II on 19 October. The Coronation cost about £250, 000. The original church, a Wren masterpiece, was ruined by enemy action on the night of 10 May 1941. Photo shows the High Altar and Chancel in the Church. Immediately above the oak High Altar is a painting on wood of the Annunciation by Ruskin Spear RA. Above this rises the east stained glass window representing The Risen Christ and to its left and right windows depict the birth and death of Christ, all three the work of Carl Edwards
