Stamps for Salvation Army centenary

Jul. 07, 1965 - Centenary of the salvation army, two special stamps in four colors; The famous Blood and Fire banner of the Salvation Army is featured in the designs of the 3d. and 1s6d. special stamps to be issued on 9th. August to mark the Centenary of the salvation army. Both stamps will be printed in for colours. The 3d stamps, designed by M.C. Farrar Bell, also shows figures of a salvation army band. The colors are desinged by Geoffrey Tranaman and portraits symbolically within the framework of the banner, three salvationist the same four colors are used as for the 3d stamp. In each stamp the Dorothy Wilding portrait of the Queen is shown top right with the denomination below.
