1966 - Stephanos Stephanopoulos: The most controversial figure of the coming elections, following the announcement of his ultra-right party which is designed to express the ultra-conservatives disaffection with caramanlis because of the liberalizing measures he had to take after the collapse of dictatorship. The just announced party includes royalist, die-hard old conservatives, and junta symphatizers. Stephanopoulos was a former 18-month prime minister 1965-1966, heading a center-right government after he abandoned the center party upon King encouragement
