Nov. 11, 1960 - The famous Gretna Green anvil returned : The famous three and a half hundred weight anvil - over which hundreds of runaway marriages have been performed - and which was stolen from the Blacksmiths has been returned. The anvil was found 300 miles away outside the London Headquarters of the B.B.C.. Photo shows the famous anvil is carried back to his rightful home.. Mr. Neil Campbell Potts (left of picture) had to pay 9 - the cost of transporting the anvil back from London
