May 05, 1968 - Stonehenge Regains Its Isolation: Work which will restore something of the ancient air of isolation to Stonehenge is well under way and should be completed in time for the main rush of summer visitors, as shown in this picture from the air. The car park on the far side of the busy A344 road has been extended to the west, and the eastern end removed, so that vehicles will not be seen from the stone circle. A subway passes beneath the road to connect the car park with the site of the monument. Unsightly ticket booths, staff huts and refreshment kiosks have been removed, and are being replaced by new buildings in a semi-underground position beside the car park
