Jan. 1, 1956 - Port Said, Egypt - Suez Crisis also called Suez-Sinai War was the Israel-Egypt encounter at the end of October and the beginning of November 1956, which resulted in Israel's seizure of the Sinai Peninsula and brought to a head the tension that had been simmering in Arab-Israeli relations for several years.
