His best known work, The Persistence of Memory, was completed in 1931. PICTURED: Dali arrives at the Palais de Glace in his Ovocipede, a transparent plastic sphere that is propelled by the occupant, who runs along on the inside track like a squirrel in an old-fashioned squirrel wheel
