Feb. 29 THE GIRLS WHO WANT TO BE DIVERS The jobs of work and hobbies once regarded as strictly men only are gradually becoming less. The latest spheres to be invaded by the fair sex is that of underwater diving and already there are several girl pupils at the Underwater Diving School run by 35-year-old Mr. Brah Martin at Laughing Watees, Cobham, Kent. Students Wear frog-type suits and feet flippers, packing a bottled air supply on their backs. The girls are so keen they even defy the cold winter winds and the icy waters for their lessons. Founder of the school, Bram Martin comes from Orpington. After being invalided out of the R.A.F. during the war he made a rapid recovery and qualified as a diver and worked in the Mediterranean clearing harbor obstructions. His school is designed to put Britain on a par with other countries in under-water photography and is operated in conjunction with the Sub Aqua Club of London. Pratty Mrs. C.A.
