Jul. 07, 1960 - American Housewife Trains For Her Attempt To Swim The Channel Under Water: American housewife Mrs. Jane Baldasare has taken up training for her attempt to swim the English Channel under water some time in August. she is using the indoor pool at Butlin's Queen's Hotel at Cliftonville. Although unable to swim a stroke until she married, at the age of 17, she is now 25, she has learned to drink, eat, sleep and even make-up under water in spite of the Voitlung which she carries strapped to her back. Last year she successfully completed a 14-mile under water swim in Pensacola Bay, Florida and in January this year carried out an endurance test by remaining under water in a tank for 100 hours.
