Swimming - Diving

Jul. 07, 1960 - American housewife trains for her attempt to swim the English channel underwater American housewife, 25-year-old Mrs. Jane Baldasare, has started training for her attempt to swim the English channel underwater some time in Auguts. She is using the indoor pool at Butlin Queens Hotel at Cliftonville. Although unable to swim a stroke until she married at the age of 17, she has learned to drink, eat, sleep and makeup under water in spite of the Voitlung which she carries strapped to her back. Last year she successfully completed a 14-mile underwater swim in Pensacola Bay, Florida, and in January this year carried an endurance test by remaining underwater in a tank for 100 hours. Photo Shows: Jane Baldasare seen with her underwater apparatus during her preliminary training at Cliftonville today. Keystone
