May 05, 1963 - American Girl challenges Russia: 25-year-old Mary Margaret Revell from Detroit U.S.A. who is to attempting to break the Women's English Channel Swimming Record, today went to the Soviet Embassy to hand in a letter to Mr. Kruschev in which she challenged him to provide a swimmer to accompany her on her swim, as earlier applications to the Russian swimming Federation have brought forward the answer that Russia has no long distance swimmers. photo shows Mary Margaret Revell knocks on the door of the Soviet Embassy this morning
