Aug. 08, 1964 - Fourteen Year Old Californian Schoolgirl Prepares for Channel Swim. Fourteen year old Californian schoolgirl Leonora Modell was to be seen at Folkestone today training for her attempt to become the youngest girl ever to swim the Channel. She being prepared for the swim by Paul Herron who successfully swum the Channel both ways in 1958 and 1959.
