1964 - A 14-Year-Old Girl Swims The Channel - A 14-Year-Girl last night became the Youngest-ever Channel Swimmer. Leonore Modell, from Sacramento, Califonia, landed at Dover after 151/2 hours in the water. Leonore is belived to have swim the equivalent of 50 miles to seat the currents and the tide on the 21-mile crossing. She set off from Cap Gris Naz at 5-30 a.m. yesterday
