Aug. 08, 1965 - Karen Muir Fails to Sreak Own World Record - Wonder Swmimmer, 12-year-old South African Karen Muir, cried at the Derby Batherr, Blackpool, last night when she failed by swimming of the second to breathing world record of 24 hours earlier. The sands of spectators cheered as Karen easily won the final of the Girls 110-years backstroke Championship of England. Karlier in the Any she had also won the final of the Girls. 220-yard freestyle, with a time of 2.23.08. the day previes in a heat. and breakest the world record and became the youngest world record breaker in the history of sport.
