Mar. 03, 1966 - The Life saver ball.: A ball - not for playing beach games - but for saving lives, was yesterday demonstrated at London's Crystal Palace swimming bath. The ball, designed by an American firm, is a compact life - belt which can be thrown a considerable distance to anybody drowning. Helping to demonstrate it yestaerday, was 19 year old Carol Raven. She plunged into the deep and and pretended to be drowning. her rescuer pulled the ripoord on the ball and hurled it towards her. As the ball hit the water a built- in gas cartridge inflated it into a 21 inch life-belt. Carol placed it over her head - and was saved. Photo shows Carol Raven is saved by the life saving ball
