Taylor, Faulkner and Craig on Stormont balcony, Belfast, NI

Mar. 03, 1972 - Faulkner And Craig Unite: 100, 000 Protestant demonstrators cheered wildly yesterday as Ulster's Prime Minister, Mr Faulkner, shook hands warmly with Mr Craig, leader of the militant Vanguard movement, on the balcony of Stormont. The handshake - at the biggest demonstration of Unionism ever seen in the province - signified the public reconciliation of the two men in opposition to Mr Heath's initiatives. It led to speculation that Mr Faulkner might links his Unionist party with Mr Craig's rapidly growing militant Vanguard movement, which organised yesterday's rally to coincide with the last sitting of the Stormont Parliament for at least a year. Photo Shows: Mr. Faulkner, Ulster's Prime Minister (C), as Mr Craig, the Vanguard leader, addressed a crowd of 100, 000 from the balcony of Stormont yesterday. With them, on left, was Mr Taylor, the minister of state for Home Affairs, who is recovering from an assassination attempt
