Team captains of USA and England, Vintage Car Rally
1968 - At the end of the first ever Anglo-American Vintage Car Rally, which has been taking the teams through the British countryside, an award given by the Royal Automobile Club of Great Britain was presented at Goodwood in Sussex on Saturday, September 11th. The award went to the British team, when the final scoring showed that they had 8, 376 points to the Americans 7, 001. Here are the two team captains with the silver Trophy cup. Left is the American captain, Samuel E. Baily, of Bala-Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, and Tim Carson of Newbury, Berkshire. All along the 850-mile route from the Scottish capital of Edinburgh to the motor racing circuit at Goodwood, there have been many time checks and tests, including the gruelling Prescott Hill Climb, which have proved that these vintage cars some of them nearly fifty years old have no right to the name of old crocks (Credit Image: (c) Keystone Pictures USA/ZUMAPRESS.com/Mary Evans)
