Sep. 09, 1969 - Sitting on 400, 000 volts.: Electricity Board linesman, Ted Malpass, yesterday demonstrated the effectiveness of a suit of stainless steel wire mesh and cotton, which took two years to perfect at the Central Electricity Generating Board's laboratory at Leatherhead Surrey, and which enables repair and maintenance work on pylons to be done without switching off the current. Mr. Malpass effectiveness when he changed a conductor spacer between pylons at Odiham, Hampshire. Photo shows Mr. Ted Malpass, wearing his special suit, demonstrates how to live with 400, 000 volts yesterday
