Teddy Tinling maxi style tennis outfits for Wimbledon
Jan. 01, 1969 - We're Back Where We Started In The Tennis Fashion World: Wimbledon designer, Teddy Tinling, caused quite a stir when he showed his latest collection, the longest tennis dresses since 1925 when Susanne Lenglen was on the tennis courts. The 1969 hemline by Tinling is on the knee worn with long bloomers, somewhat different when he designed the lace knickers for Gorgeous Gussie Moran 20 years ago, and last year when he made Maria Bueno's tennis dress so short that her lace panties were very much on view. So why the maxi-dress? Said Tinling to make any change dresses had to be longer, because to make them shorter one would have been left with just knickers.
