1953 - Tennessee Ernie And 16, 000 Children Attend Opening Of Battersea Fun Fair: Nearly 16, 000 schoolchildren from Battersea were the guests of the management at the opening this afternoon of the festival pleasure gardens Battersea Park. The opening ceremony was attended by Tennessee Ernie the Western singing star, who rode to the Gardens on horseback.
